Actor and former Big Brother Africa contestant Tayo Faniran has said that doing well in films creates pressure for him to prepare thoroughly for each role.
In an interview with Saturday Beats, Tayo described this pressure as positive and motivating.
“Performing well in movies puts pressure on me, but it’s good pressure; the kind that pushes you to prepare properly. I know the type of pressure I need. Sometimes it’s a month away, sometimes two months, depending on the depth of the character,” he said.
Tayo explained that he treats every role as a career opportunity. “All it takes is one good job to announce you to the world as a great actor,” he added.
Since gaining fame as the first runner-up of Big Brother Africa Season 9 in 2014, Tayo has worked in television, modelling, and business before fully focusing on acting. He has appeared in several Nollywood films, including the crime drama Gangs of Lagos on Prime Video, where he played Ninalowo, and Ada Omo Daddy, in which he played Victor.
He has said in past interviews that he is selective about the roles he accepts, preferring characters that allow him to explore different aspects of his craft. Tayo evaluates the quality of the project and the depth of the character before committing to a role.
