Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo’s new Tattoo draws reactions online

Relationship coach and lead pastor of David Christian Centre (DCC) Kingsley Okonkwo has drawn reactions on social media after revealing a tattoo on his arm.

Pastor Okonkwo shared a video of the tattoo on his Instagram page with the caption “3:16,” a reference many users linked to John 3:16 of the Bible.

The post drew mixed reactions from followers, with discussions centring on faith, personal conviction and expectations placed on Christian leaders.

While some users argued that faith is based on belief rather than outward appearance, others questioned whether tattoos align with biblical teachings, citing Leviticus 19:28, which cautions against marking the skin.

One Instagram user wrote, “The Bible says we should not make a mark on our skin. Well I know that the Bible hasn’t changed and God’s word hasn’t changed too, so all I can say is hmmmmm.”

Another commented, “For those of us that have something to say but decided not to say it, may the peace of the Lord be with us, amen.”

A third user wrote, “Just know God personally, no let anyone introduce their own God to you. Find your God, know am for yourself.”

Another follower stated, “It baffles me. Does this pastor not know it’s a sin to tattoo his skin? As a pastor, you should be leading members with what the Bible teaches. Pastors these days use verses that favour them and ignore the rest.”

Another comment quoted scripture directly, “Leviticus 19:28: Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD.”

Kingsley Okonkwo has not publicly responded to the reactions or offered an explanation for the tattoo.

He is the founder and lead pastor of David Christian Centre, a Lagos-based church with branches in several locations.

He is also known for teachings on marriage, relationships and family life and frequently shares content on social media and at conferences.

The debate continues online, with followers divided over the place of personal expression, biblical interpretation and the conduct expected of pastors.
