Singer Oxlade has spoken openly about mental health, urging Nigerians and social media users to seek help during difficult moments and avoid harming themselves.

The 28-year-old made the appeal in a series of posts shared on his X account, where he addressed people struggling emotionally and encouraged them not to suffer in silence.

In his message, Oxlade acknowledged that life can become overwhelming and advised those going through tough times to speak to someone they trust rather than internalising their pain.

“Hey there, I know things can be overwhelmingly tough … some of you might have been bottling it in … For so long … Survival can only happen if you’re alive to tell the tale … Please Talk To someone … So You Can Reflect if this is worth dying for. Dont take your life please that’d be so selfish of you…”

He also warned that taking one’s life would leave lasting pain for loved ones and appealed to people close to him not to give up, stressing that difficult moments do pass.

“Dont hurt the ones you love by depriving em of your existence…Im here to let you know this too shall pass … I got a news that sent shock waves through my spine and to my brothers please dont die on me …. i dont have the strength to heal from any lose again…”

Oxlade’s comments come amid increasing public conversations around mental health in Nigeria, where stigma and lack of awareness continue to prevent many people from seeking support.
