Chief Imam of Owo and chairman of the Ondo State League of Imams and Alfas Ahmad Aladesawe has died at the age of 91.
A Muslim leader in Owo, Kamorudeen Ishola, confirmed the development on Tuesday, saying the Imam died on Monday evening at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo.
He added that Sheik Aladesawe would be buried according to Islamic rites on Tuesday at 2:00 pm in his hometown, Owo, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Before his death, Aladesawe served as the secretary general of the League of Imams and Alfas in the South-West, Edo and Delta States.
The National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations (NACOMYO) in Ondo State has commiserated with the family of the deceased, the Owo Muslim community and the wider Muslim Ummah.
In a statement, the Ondo State missioner of NACOMYO, Abdulwaasii Yusuf, said, “May Allah accept his good deeds, forgive his shortcomings and grant him Jannatul Firdaus. Aameen.”
