Abia State Governor Alex Otti will deliver the 2026 annual lecture of TheNiche.
The lecture will be chaired by the Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of TheNiche Ikechukwu Amaechi the event is scheduled to hold on April 23 at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Victoria Island, Lagos. It will start at 10 am.
Mr Amaechi said the lecture is the fifth in the series organised by TheNiche Foundation for Development Journalism.
He said the choice of Governor Otti as guest speaker and Sanusi as chairman was based on their experience in economic and financial matters.
The statement said the lecture will focus on Nigeria’s economy and governance and aims to promote discussion on economic issues.
Before becoming governor in 2023, Otti was managing director of Diamond Bank Plc., which later merged with Access Bank.
Sanusi previously served as managing director of First Bank of Nigeria and governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Amaechi said the lecture is intended to draw attention to economic issues as political activities increase.
Previous speakers at the lecture include Kingsley Moghalu, Anya O. Anya, Babatunde Fashola and Rotimi Amaechi.
Past chairpersons include Remi Sonaiya, Christopher Kolade, Tanko Yakasai and Uma Eleazu.
