Actress Onyii Alex has offered reassurance to fans concerned about the wellbeing of her close friend and colleague, Alexx Ekubo, who has been noticeably absent from social media since December 30, 2024.
Concerns heightened earlier this May when a video surfaced showing the actor interacting with children. Fans noted that Alexx appeared visibly slimmer and subdued, sparking fresh worry about his physical and emotional health.
Earlier in the week, actress Oma Nnadi addressed the speculation, insisting that Alexx is fine and simply taking a break from the public eye. “Let my friend breathe,” she urged, calling for people to respect the actor’s privacy.
Producer Stanley Ontop also stepped in to clear the air. He explained that Alexx is in good health and deliberately withdrew from social media due to its toxic atmosphere. According to Stanley, the actor is using this time to regain his peace and will return “stronger.”
Adding her voice to the ongoing conversation, Onyii Alex took to Instagram on Friday to post a screenshot of a video call with Alexx, accompanied by a caption that read, “Loud lies never drown out quiet strength.”
The pair have long shared a close friendship that has occasionally stirred playful speculation. In a 2020 interview with The Sun, Onyii humourously revealed that Alexx had been persistently asking her to date him.
“I don’t have any plans to settle down soon. I don’t know. It will happen in God’s time. For now, I am so single. I don’t have a boyfriend. But (actor) Alexx Ekubo is begging me to date him. I am still thinking about it (laughter). I am so single and I am thinking that maybe, Alexx Ekubo is making some kind of money; he loves me,” she said at the time.
In 2021, Onyii further demonstrated their bond when she gifted a cash present to Alexx’s mother.
