Minister of State for Labour and Employment Nkeiruka Onyejeocha has resigned from office.
Mrs Onyejeocha announced her resignation in a post on X on Friday, thanking President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to serve in his administration.
“It is with a heart full of gratitude that I announce my resignation as Honourable Minister of State for Labour and Employment,” she wrote.
“This decision comes with gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to serve Nigeria in his administration.”
She added, “This is not an end but a new beginning. I remain committed to service and to building the Nigeria we all deserve.”
Her resignation comes days after President Tinubu directed ministers and other political appointees seeking elective office to step down in line with the Electoral Act.
Onyejeocha also thanked staff of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment for their support during her time in office.
“To the Honourable Minister, Permanent Secretary, Directors, and every member of staff, thank you for your dedication and partnership,” she said.
She also expressed appreciation to her constituents in Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency in Abia State and Nigerians for their support.
“Serving Nigeria has been the greatest privilege of my life,” she said.
Onyejeocha served in the House of Representatives from 2007 to 2023, representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency and is expected to seek elective office.
