Omotola Jalade’s directorial debut Mother’s Love grosses N25m at box office

Actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde’s directorial debut Mother’s Love has crossed N25 million at the box office.

Distributor Nile Entertainment announced the milestone on Instagram on Monday, thanking viewers who have supported the film since its cinema release.

The company wrote, “Mother’s Love just crossed ₦25M at the box office and the journey is far from over.

“Thank you to every single person who bought a ticket, brought a friend, called their crew/geng to watch.”

Mother’s Love opened in cinemas nationwide on March 6 after its Lagos premiere on March 1.

The drama tells the story of Adebisi, a young woman raised in privilege whose life begins to change during her National Youth Service Corps year. As she navigates new experiences away from home, tensions grow between her and her protective mother.

The film features a cast that includes Omotola, Ifeanyi Kalu, Noray Nehita, Lilian Afegbai, Nosa Rex and Olumide Oworu.

Before its Nigerian cinema release, Mother’s Love was screened at international festivals including the Toronto International Film Festival and the Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles.

Singer Jodie also recorded a special version of her song ‘Kuchi Kuchi’ as the film’s official soundtrack.
