Actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde had an emotional moment at the premiere of her new film Mother’s Love on Sunday in Lagos.
The event drew colleagues, political figures and other guests from across the entertainment industry. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, actresses Sola Sobowale and Ruth Kadiri, former senator Dino Melaye and media personality Denrele Edun were among those present.
The highlight of the evening came when Omotola’s second daughter, Meraiah Ekeinde, who is based abroad, walked into the venue unannounced. A video shared online showed Meraiah approaching her mother backstage, catching her by surprise.
In the clip, a voice is heard asking, “Where did you sleep?” as Meraiah greeted her mother and other family members. The moment drew smiles and excitement from those around them.
Omotola directed Mother’s Love, marking her debut as a filmmaker. In earlier interviews, she said she made the film to tell grounded stories about women and family life.
The premiere also featured a brief moment where Omotola introduced her first daughter, Princess Ekeinde, to Obasanjo.
Omotola has been active in Nollywood since the 1990s and remains one of the industry’s most recognised figures. Mother’s Love is expected to screen in cinemas nationwide.
