Omotola Jalade reveals how she turned down billionaire-level deals to protect values

Actress Omotola Jalade has said she walked away from several high-paying opportunities during her career because they did not align with her personal beliefs.

In an interview on The Afropolitan Show, Omotola said she had been placed in positions where she could have earned enormous wealth but chose not to compromise her principles.

She explained that some of the people who made those offers “are still watching” her career today. She said the decisions were not always about rejecting something illegal, but about protecting the values and message she represents.

The 48-year-old added that some opportunities looked harmless at first but would eventually “dilute” her message, which is why she chose to walk away despite the financial rewards.

Omotola is a long-serving figure in Nigeria’s film industry. She began acting in the mid-1990s and has appeared in more than 300 films, including Mortal Inheritance and Last Flight to Abuja. She has won several awards and was named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people in the world in 2013.

Beyond acting, she has worked as a singer and producer and remains active in humanitarian work and youth empowerment. Omotola is married to Matthew Ekeinde and they have four children.
