Digital and marketing communications professional Omokehinde Thomas has been appointed marketing manager for the energy and hydration portfolio at Seven-Up.

Her appointment, which took effect four months ago, marks her transition from digital marketing leadership to overseeing a broader marketing portfolio within the company.

In her new role, she is responsible for leading strategy and execution across the energy and hydration brands, with oversight of brand direction and commercial performance.

Announcing the development on LinkedIn on Thursday, Manager Thomas reflected on the shift in responsibilities.

“Four months. A new mandate. A broader lens. I’ve been relatively quiet here over the past few months; largely because I stepped into a new role as Marketing Manager overseeing the Energy and Hydration portfolio,” she wrote.

She described the move from digital marketing to full marketing leadership as a defining stage in her career.

“Transitioning from Digital Marketing into full spectrum marketing leadership has been both clarifying and transformative. Digital marketing trains you to optimise, full marketing leadership requires you to orchestrate,” she stated.

According to her, the most notable change has been moving from campaign-focused thinking to commercial decision-making.

“The most significant shift has been moving from campaign thinking to commercial thinking; understanding how brand decisions influence margin, perception, scale, and long term competitive advantage,” she said.

Thomas added that the experience has reinforced her belief that marketing plays a central role in business growth.

“It has reinforced a core belief: Marketing is not a communications function. It is a growth function,” she stated, expressing appreciation for the opportunity to take on expanded responsibilities.

Omokehinde Thomas joined Seven-Up in October 2023 as digital marketing lead, moving from the agency side of the business.

Before that, she served as deputy business director at RedWolf Company, the digital media arm of Noah’s Ark Communications.

At Noah’s Ark Communications, she rose through the ranks over four years to become account lead, digital.

She was part of the team that developed the group’s digital department into a standalone agency.

Earlier in her career, she worked as an online executive at Novelpotta Y&R, began her professional journey at Royal Mark as an administrator and later held roles at Deefrent and The Harvest Place.

With over 15 years of experience, Thomas has worked across sectors including telecommunications, technology, pay television, FMCG, financial services, NGOs and government.

She has handled campaigns for brands such as Airtel, Three Crowns Milk, Nokia, Maltina, GOtv, Maggi and Payattitude.

Thomas holds a master’s degree in marketing and communications from Rome Business School, Nigeria and a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Covenant University.

She is also a DMI-certified professional.

In 2023, she was among 25 professionals recognised at the ADMARP Awards for contributions to digital marketing.

She was also listed among the top digital marketing personalities in Nigeria in 2022.
