Gospel singer Bunmi Akinnaanu, popularly known as Omije Ojumi, has marked her birthday just days after fellow gospel artistes appealed for financial support over an undisclosed ailment she has been battling.
Her colleague Dare Melody celebrated her on Instagram on Wednesday, sharing her photo with a heartfelt message.
“Happy birthday to a wonderful sister and colleague @omije_ojumi (Bunmi Akinnaanu Adeoye). I celebrate you this day, and I pray for the enabling grace of God to continue to rest upon you. May you never be found wanting among the gracious and the favoured.
Best wishes for your birthday 🎂
Psalm 91 vs 1: He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty,” he wrote.
Bunmi’s birthday comes shortly after gospel singers Yinka Alaseyori and Sarah Apekeola among others publicly appealed to fans and well-wishers to support her as she battles the ailment.
In October, QEDNG reported that the singer stirred concern after a video of her looking weak and emotional went viral. In the clip, captured during a prayer session, she was seen crying and struggling to speak. A bandage was wrapped around her hand, and her leg appeared swollen. The pastor leading the session placed his foot on hers while praying fervently for her healing and urging her to hold on to her faith.
The video, which was reportedly recorded during a session at G.F. David Ministries in Ibadan, showed an IV cannula on her hand, raising more concern among fans.
Bunmi Akinnaanu, known for hit gospel songs such as Omije Ojumi and O Ti Sure, is celebrated for her emotional delivery and inspirational lyrics. She began singing at age 10 and left a banking career to pursue gospel music full-time.
