Gospel singer Bunmi Akinnaanu, professionally known as Bunmi Omije Ojumi, has died.
Her colleague, Alayo Melody, shared a statement from her family announcing her death on Instagram on Tuesday. He also shared a picture of the late singer and a video showing her being wheeled at the hospital in a body bag.
The statement read, “With great sadness 💔😭we announce the passing of Evangelist Olubunmi Akinnaanu Adeoye OMIJE OJUMI ,passed away on 12th January,2026 at Lagos hospital Nigeria
May God grant her eternal rest🙏

Bunmi Akinnaanu was a gospel music minister known for songs such as ‘Omije Oju mi’ and ‘O Ti Sure’. She was popular within church and Christian music circles, where her songs were widely shared and used for worship.
In the months before her death, her health became a subject of concern among colleagues and fans. Videos circulated online showing her battling an illness that affected her leg, which appeared visibly swollen. In one of the clips, she was seen during a prayer session, seeking divine healing.
Several gospel artistes and colleagues publicly appealed for prayers and financial assistance to support her medical treatment.
Her death has sparked reactions from members of the gospel music community and fans, many of whom had followed her health struggles and joined in appeals for support and prayers.
