The Nigeria Police Force has promoted its former spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi to the rank of deputy commissioner of police (DCP) and redeployed him to the Delta State command as deputy commissioner of operations.
DCP Adejobi’s redeployment followed his promotion, approved by the Police Service Commission on Wednesday.
Police authorities described the move as part of routine administrative procedures to strengthen operational leadership across the country.
Senior officers dismissed reports suggesting that Adejobi was removed from his spokesperson role for controversial reasons, stressing that his posting was neither punitive nor political.
Adejobi will now coordinate tactical deployments, supervise field operations and lead anti-crime strategies across Delta State.
He will also handle crisis response and police-community relations in a state facing challenges such as armed robbery, kidnapping, oil theft and communal disputes.
Appointed acting Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) in February 2022, Olumuyiwa Adejobi was later confirmed by former inspector general of police Usman Alkali.
He previously served as police public relations officer in Ogun, Lagos and Zone 2 commands.
