Comedian Okon Lagos has praised United States President Donald Trump after the US carried out airstrikes against Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) positions in northwest Nigeria.
Okon showered encomium on Trump for delivering on his promises.
In a Thursday post, he wrote: “Trump Na Mannn abeg! Love him or h8 him, one thing is always sure. He delivers on his promises. He said it’s going to be astViciousAndSweet Merry Christmas Nigeria including the de*d terrists!!!”
He also captioned: “Pls General Musa, continue from here. Since they don’t want fireworks of celebration, let’s give them fireworks of the abyss and hell 👏👏👏 Thank you @realdonaldtrump.”
On Friday, December 25, President Trump announced that US forces had launched airstrikes against ISWAP militants in Sokoto state.
He said the strikes targeted terrorists attacking Christians and warned: “If they did not stop the slaughtering of Christians, there would be hell to pay. May God bless our military, and Merry Christmas to all, including the dead terrorists, of which there will be many more if their slaughter of Christians continues.”
The US Africa Command said the operation was carried out in coordination with Nigerian authorities and that multiple ISWAP militants were killed. Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the strikes as a targeted action and said cooperation with the U.S. respected the country’s laws and sovereignty.
