Ogun State government has assured the Fusengbuwa ruling house of Ijebu-Ode that it will not allow other ruling houses to interfere in the selection of the next Awujale of Ijebuland.

Chairman of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Dare Alebiosu, gave the assurance on Tuesday during a courtesy visit to his office by elders of the Fusengbuwa ruling house, including the Dagburewe of Idowa Oba Sikiru Okuribido, the Saderiren of Isonyin-Ijebu Oba Abdulrasheed Salami and the Onirete of Irete Oba Abdulganiyu Yusuf.

Responding to a request by the Olori-Ebi of the Fusengbuwa ruling house, Lateef Owoyemi, Mr Alebiosu said government would not allow any ruling house to act outside due process.

“We won’t allow any interloper; each ruling house has its turn, and now it is the turn of Fusengbuwa. The Fusengbuwa has lots of capable people, so we will ensure that the right thing is done,” he said.

Mr Owoyemi commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for setting up an administrative board of Ijebu-Ode high chiefs to oversee the affairs of the Awujale palace until the appointment of the 59th Awujale.

He appealed to government to convene a meeting with the other ruling houses, Fidipote, Gbelegbuwa and Anikilaya to ensure they do not interfere in Fusengbuwa’s internal matters.
