Actor Odunlade Adekola has paid a condolence visit to the family of fast-rising actress Omotola Odunsi.
The 48-year-old shared a video of the visit on his Instagram page on Friday with the caption, “UNQUESTIONABLE GOD 😔 R I P OMOLANI.”
Odunlade, who trained Omotola in his acting school, had earlier expressed shock over her death, writing, “Jesus Christ. RIP Omotola.”
Omotola’s death was confirmed on Thursday by her colleague Akinola ‘Segbowe’ Akano in an Instagram post.
Akinola shared photos of the actress alongside screenshots of their last conversation, in which he checked up on her and she responded that she had been unwell but was feeling better.
Describing her death as a strange, rude shock, he wrote, “Motola! Strange but I tried checking on you at the wee hours of that morning. You said you were FINE & BACK!”
Omotola began her acting journey while in her 200-level at Olabisi Onabanjo University where she studied microbiology. She started with stage plays and later met Odunlade during an audition, after which she was selected for training in his film school. She graduated from the academy in 2023.
Until her death, the actress had featured in several Yoruba films including Lisabi: The Uprising, Officer Adaeze, Ayanmo Ire, Ifedayo, Doctor Adunni, Ajanaku, Dagogo, Darkness, President Kuti, and Folagbade.
Tributes have continued to pour in from her colleagues on social media.
Actress Biola Adebayo wrote on Instagram, “Sad!!! I just heard about the demise of that beautiful lady. It’s really heartbreaking. May her soul rest in peace. May God console her loved ones.”
Ashabi Simple, the mother of singer Portable’s child, also paid tribute. She wrote, “You’re one of the best actors I’m rooting for. We made plans to feature together in our next project, but now you laboured and didn’t wait to reap… I remember nights you chatted with me to give hope and advice… GOD, we can’t question you. Death is deep.”
As of the time of filing this report, the cause of her death has not been revealed.
