Actor Odunlade Adekola joined Nollywood colleague Ibrahim Yekini, popularly known as Itele, at the premiere of Abanisete the Ancestor held at Filmhouse, Circle Mall in Lagos on Wednesday.
A video shared online shows the pair embracing warmly on the red carpet, joined by actors Muyiwa Ademola and Lateef Adedimeji, who also congratulated Itele on his film.
Itele is an award-winning actor, producer and director.
He earned the Best Actor in a Lead Role at the 2020 Best of Nollywood Awards for his performance in Lucifer.
The 45-year-old began acting in 2000 and produced his first film in 2004.
He earned the nickname “Itele” from a breakthrough role in a self-titled project.
His notable film credits include Kesari (2018), Return of Kesari, Lucifer (2019), King of Thieves (2022), JBO (Jaguda Baba Ole) (2023), A Tribe Called Judah (2023), Dolapo Douglas (2024) and Jagun Jagun (2023).
He has also produced and directed several movies, including Abanisete the Ancestor.
His body of work extends to Netflix and epic Yoruba-language films.
In a March 2023 interview, Itele described acting as a lifestyle and credited his theater training at Folorunsho Adejobi’s troupe for preparing him for screen roles.
At the Abanisete premiere, Itele was welcomed by peers such as Adekola, Ademola and Adedimeji.
Other celebrities present at the premiere included Mo Bimpe, Ibrahim Chatta, Baba Tee, Omowunmi Dada, Modola, Broda Shaggi, Sidi, Femi Adebayo and Regina Chukwu, among others.
The star-studded cast of Abanisete the Ancestor features Femi Adebayo, Modola Osifuwa, Omowunmi Dada, Broda Shaggi, Kola Ajeyemi, Kemi Apesin, Wale Adebayo, Fathia Balogun, Olarotimi Fakunle, Akinyemi Olaiya, Lateef Adedimeji and many more.
The film is scheduled for a wider cinema release on Friday.
