Billionaire businessman Obinna Iyiegbu, also known as Obi Cubana, has been conferred with a chieftaincy title in Anambra State.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Obi Cubana said the Enugwu-Ukwu na Umunri Traditional Council conferred on him the title Ife-Igbo-Ji-Ka-Mba during a ceremony held in Enugwu-Ukwu on Saturday.

According to the statement, the title was bestowed by the traditional ruler of Enugwu-Ukwu, Igwe Ralph Obumneme Ekpe.

“The title was bestowed by the traditional ruler, Igwe Ralph Obumneme Ekpe, in recognition of Iyiegbu’s achievements in business, philanthropy and his contributions to the promotion of Igbo culture and excellence.

“The title, which translates loosely as ‘the pride of the Igbo before the world,’ is reserved for individuals who have distinguished themselves in enterprise and community development,” the statement read.

While conferring the title, the monarch and members of his council spoke on Iyiegbu’s leadership, entrepreneurship and involvement in social initiatives, noting his impact on the Igbo community.

In his remarks, Obi Cubana said he was grateful for the recognition and pledged to continue supporting initiatives focused on economic opportunities and community development.

He added that the honour would encourage him to continue promoting Igbo heritage within and outside Nigeria.

The event was attended by guests from the banking, oil and gas, real estate and hospitality sectors, as well as community leaders and business executives.
