Obesere is not my biological father — Debbie Shokoya

Actress and producer Debbie Shokoya has dismissed viral reports suggesting that Fuji singer Obesere is her biological father.

The claim, which circulated widely on social media, linked her to the musician without any evidence.

In a video shared on her Instagram page, Debbie said she has never had any contact with Obesere and denied making the statements attributed to her.

“It is not funny anymore; the news is everywhere. I have never met Obesere before, and you claim I said he’s my biological father? Don’t I look like my father? Am I not my biological father’s replica?” she said.

The actress described the report as entirely fabricated and criticised some media platforms and commentators for sharing the claim without verification. She added that the false narrative had led to abusive remarks directed at her.

“Obesere is not my biological father. Please stop spreading fake news! Stop writing or posting things I never said. Some commentators do not even think well enough to know that these things are fake; they start to throw abuses,” she said.

She urged bloggers and members of the public to stop circulating unverified claims and to share her clarification as widely as the original posts. “I’ve never said or written this, nor did I cry out as they claimed. Bloggers should also post this video the same way they were quick to jump on that misconception,” Shokoya added.

Abass Akande, professionally known as Obesere, is a Fuji musician from Ibadan, active in the industry since the 1980s.
