Obasanjo, Amosun, Soyinka attend 39th Lisabi festival in Abeokuta

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Ogun State governor Ibikunle Amosun and Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka were among dignitaries at the 39th Lisabi annual festival, Egbaliganza 2026, held in Abeokuta on Saturday.

The event drew monarchs, politicians, entertainers and other guests.

Others present included Seriki Iyalaje of Egbaland Emmanuella Aderopo, actors Olaiya Igwe, Fisayomi Abebi, Yemi Solade, Muyiwa Ademola and Owolabi Ajasa, musician Shina Peters and former Big Brother Naija housemate Imisi Ayanwale.

Egbaliganza is part of activities marking Lisabi Day and brings together Egba indigenes from Nigeria and abroad to celebrate their culture.

Organisers said this year’s edition has participation from countries, governments, cultural institutions, designers and investors.

Activities at the event included a parade, fashion shows featuring Adire and Aso-Oke, exhibitions of garments and artefacts, unveiling of a unity drum, an orchestra performance and a gala night.

The event has recognition from the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy.

Organisers said it is aimed at promoting culture, tourism and investment.
