Oba Oniru celebrates 55th birthday, receives tribute from Oba Elegushi

Oniru of Iru Kingdom in Lagos Oba Omogbolahan Lawal, on Thursday, marked his 55th birthday with a message of gratitude and reflection, celebrating a life of royal service, resilience and dedication to community development.

In a post shared on Instagram, Oba Oniru thanked God for the gift of life and expressed appreciation for the journey so far, describing it as one shaped by “the unwavering faithfulness of the Almighty, continuous learning, duty, resilience, royal service and a deep love for our people and heritage.”

He prayed for continued prosperity for the land and good health for all, adding, “May our land continue to flourish and may we all live long in good health and abundance to experience many more celebrations together.”

Among those who celebrated the monarch was the Elegushi of Ikate Kingdom, Oba Saheed Elegushi, who hailed Oba Oniru as a symbol of royal excellence and development.

In his birthday tribute, Oba Elegushi wrote, “Happy 55th birthday, my brother, HRM Oba Abdulwasiu Omogbolahan Lawal (Abisogun II), Oniru of Iru Kingdom. Kabiyesi, this birthday is another celebration of royal excellence and commitment to the values of progress and development of not only Iru Kingdom but Eti-Osa, Lagos State, and our dear country, Nigeria.”

He prayed for many more years of fruitful reign in good health and sound mind and extended the greetings of the people of Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom.

Oba Oniru, a former Lagos State commissioner, ascended the throne in 2020 and has since earned praise for his modern approach to traditional leadership and his commitment to the advancement of Iruland and its people.
