The 2025 Nigeria Prize for Literature, sponsored by Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG), has announced a virtual Bookfest to celebrate its three shortlisted authors.
Oyin Olugbile, Chigozie Obioma, and Nikki May, whose novels Sanya, The Road to the Country and This Motherless Land are competing for the $100,000 prize, will take part in the online event, sharing insights into their works.
“Meet the Shortlisted authors for the 2025 Prize, dive into their stories, and celebrate the magic of literature all from your screen! Don’t miss out on this chance to learn, connect and be inspired,” NLNG Prizes said in the announcement.
This year’s edition attracted a record 252 submissions, surpassing the previous high of 202 entries in 2021. From this pool, 11 works were longlisted before being narrowed down to the final three. Prof. Saeedat Aliyu, chair of the judging panel, noted that the shortlisted novels “reflect the depth and diversity of contemporary Nigerian fiction.”
The Bookfest will hold on Sunday, 21st September at 5:00pm via Zoom, while the winner of the $100,000 award will be revealed at the grand ceremony on October 10.
