Actress Nkechi Blessing has apologised to reality TV star Imisi Ayanwale, the winner of Big Brother Naija season 10, after asking a personal question about her mother during Imisi’s birthday celebration.
The incident happened at Imisi’s birthday event on Tuesday where Nkechi Blessing asked if Imisi would ever forgive and reconcile with her estranged mother.
The topic of Imisi’s relationship with her mother has been discussed online since late 2025, when Imisi’s mother posted videos saying she had been abandoned and was struggling. Imisi previously said her mother had not been part of her life before her reality TV win but that she had supported her over the years.
Many people online said the question at the party was insensitive, and Nkechi Blessing later posted an apology video on her social media pages.
In the video on Wednesday, she said:
“I sincerely want to apologize to anybody who got offended with the question I asked Imisi some couple of hours ago at her party. I don’t want to trend for the wrong reasons this year.”
She also said:
“If you found my question offensive, I am truly sorry. Please find a place in your heart to forgive me. To everyone dragging me, fighting me, or abusing me, I’m sorry. It was not intentional at all.”
Nkechi Blessing added that her question was not meant to embarrass Imisi or seek attention, and that she stayed silent while the controversy spread online so as not to make the situation worse.
Some reports say Nkechi Blessing privately apologised to Imisi at the party before leaving, and that Imisi later calmed down.
