Singer Niniola Apata has denied claims that she secretly got married.
The 38-year-old cleared the air during an interview on Yanga FM, Lagos, saying she is not married as speculated.
“I don’t care whatever anyone does or says [regarding my personal life]. After all, I’m not a 12-year-old. I’m old enough to say whatever it is I want to say with my full chest. I’m not married,” she said.
Niniola also reacted to questions about why she has not collaborated with her younger sister, singer Teni.
“It has to happen at the right time and under the right circumstances,” she said, adding, “There’s no family in business.”
The ‘Maradona’ singer has often kept her private life out of the spotlight, choosing to focus on her music career which blends afro-house, pop, and afrobeat.
Niniola rose to fame after participating in Project Fame West Africa in 2013. She has since earned several award nominations and remains one of Nigeria’s most distinct female voices in the music industry.
