Nile Entertainment has been appointed exclusive theatrical distribution partner for Universal Pictures and Paramount Pictures across West Africa.

The company announced the development in a post shared on Instagram on Friday.

It wrote, “We’re proud to announce our appointment as theatrical distribution partner for Universal Studios and Paramount Pictures across West Africa.

“A new distribution era begins. At Nile Entertainment, this marks a major step forward in our mission to grow the theatrical market, expand access to world-class titles, and elevate the cinema experience across the region.”

The deal positions Nile Entertainment as a key gateway for Hollywood releases into cinemas in countries within the West African sub region, including Nigeria and Ghana, where theatrical distribution networks continue to expand.

Universal Pictures, a subsidiary of Comcast’s NBCUniversal, is known for titles such as Fast and Furious, Jurassic World and Despicable Me. Paramount Pictures, owned by Paramount Global, has released franchises including Mission: Impossible, Transformers and A Quiet Place.

Nile Entertainment is part of the Nile Media Entertainment Group founded and led by its Group Chief Executive Officer Moses Babatope. The group also owns and operates Nile Cinemas, a cinema chain with locations in major Nigerian cities.

The appointment is expected to strengthen the supply of international titles to cinemas in the region as cinema operators continue efforts to attract audiences with a mix of local and foreign films.
