Nike Adeyemi, wife of the senior pastor of Daystar Christian Centre Sam Adeyemi, was in tears on Sunday as Pastor Boye Oloyede left the organisation.
The second service of the day was largely dedicated to praying for Oloyede and his wife Tiwa as they leave the church headquartered in Oregun, Lagos to pursue their own vision.
Oloyede has been a member of Daystar since 1999. His LinkedIn profile says he has been a team head in the church since January 2004.
He began his journey in the church system as the personal assistant to Sam Adeyemi, rising to become the most senior pastor after the Adeyemis.
His wife Tiwa is the younger sister of Sam Adeyemi. It was while serving as Adeyemi’s personal assistant that Oloyede met and married Tiwa, who was at the time staying with the Adeyemis.
It was an emotional moment when Nike Adeyemi prayed for the couple on Sunday. Alongside her husband, she prayed for their success and the fulfilment of their vision as they leave the services of the church. They also prayed for their children.
Many members of the church were also moved to tears as they bid farewell to the Oloyedes.
