The National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR), in partnership with the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), on Saturday, October 11, held a Service in Motion flash mob at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, to mark this year’s Customer Service Week.
The event featured performances by NIHOTOUR trainees and FAAN staff, aimed at celebrating frontline service workers and promoting a culture of hospitality in Nigeria.
Director-general of NIHOTOUR, Abisoye Fagade, said the initiative was designed to demonstrate the importance of service culture in national development.
“Service is not just a duty, it is a culture, a rhythm, and an identity,” he said.
The performance attracted the attention of travelers and airport staff, many of whom recorded and shared videos online.
According to the statement, the initiative aligns with the Federal Ministry of Tourism’s service transformation agenda and the Renewed Hope Vision of President Bola Tinubu, which promotes innovation, youth inclusion and efficiency in public service.
FAAN managing director, Olubunmi Kuku, commended NIHOTOUR for the collaboration, noting that customer service remains central to the aviation sector.
“Customer service is at the heart of aviation. Today’s activation reminds our staff and citizens alike that service with a smile is the best form of national branding,” she said.
NIHOTOUR said the event forms part of its ongoing efforts to professionalise Nigeria’s tourism and hospitality workforce through training, certification and public engagement.
The agency added that the partnership with FAAN demonstrates the federal government’s commitment to improving public service delivery and positioning Nigeria as a leading tourism and service destination in Africa.
