A student of Graceland International School, Port Harcourt, Agbo Adoga, has reportedly scored a perfect 1600 in the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).
The result was shared on X on Saturday by social media commentator Alex Onyia, who said it was the first time a Nigerian student had achieved a perfect score on the test.
“I have very good news for Nigeria. This boy, Agbo Adoga from Graceland International School, Port Harcourt, just scored a perfect SAT score of 1600. He is the first ever in Nigeria to achieve this,” Mr Onyia wrote.
In another post, Onyia added that Adoga, 15, previously won the 2023 Cowbellpedia competition and hopes to attend the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
The SAT, conducted by the U.S.-based College Board, is a standardised test widely used for university admissions in the United States and other countries.
Adoga’s result has gained attention on social media, with many users commending his record.
Onyia also listed 84 academic accomplishments by the student, including top placements in several mathematics and STEM competitions across Nigeria and internationally.
Some of his achievements include gold medals in the International STEM Olympiad, American Mathematics Olympiad, Kangourou sans Frontières Mathematics Competition and high rankings in contests organised by the University of Waterloo, South African Mathematics Olympiad and Ghana Mathematical Olympiad.
Graceland International School has yet to issue an official statement on the development.
If verified by the College Board, Adoga’s score would place him among a select group of students worldwide who have attained the SAT’s maximum score.
