Michael Ilesanmi, a Nigerian who became known through the American reality television show 90 Day Fiancé, has finalised his divorce from his American wife Angela Deem.

The divorce was confirmed on Tuesday, March 10, according to documents from the Superior Court of Jeff Davis County in the United States. Ilesanmi, 36, and Deem, 60, reached a settlement agreement that ended their marriage.

“Differences have arisen between the parties in the marital relationship, and because of such differences, the parties are now living in a bona fide state of separation, and an action for divorce has been filed in the Superior Court of Jeff Davis County,” court documents stated.

The settlement allows both parties to keep vehicles registered in their names and take responsibility for any related costs. They also agreed to handle their individual debts.

Both parties waived their rights to alimony and agreed to pay their own legal fees.

The agreement further states that Deem and Ilesanmi will not “knowingly make or cause to be made any false statement of fact about the other Party to a third party, or issue any public statement, with the intent and purpose of materially harming the reputation of the other Party.”

Ilesanmi later confirmed the development in a post on Instagram.

“Finally official — divorced,” he wrote. “Thank you to everyone who supported me along the way. I appreciate you all. 🙏 New chapter begins.”

He also shared a video of himself in a beige suit outside a courthouse while holding up documents believed to be the divorce papers.

“Single life, here I come!” he said after thanking supporters.

Ilesanmi and Deem gained public attention through 90 Day Fiancé, a reality television programme in the United States that follows couples from different countries as they try to marry and live together.

The pair first appeared on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days in 2018 and returned in several other seasons and spin-offs of the programme.

They met in 2017 after Ilesanmi contacted Deem on social media. Deem, who lives in Georgia in the United States, later travelled to Nigeria to meet him in person, a moment that was shown on the show.

Despite concerns from Deem’s family about their age difference, the couple got engaged during her visit to Nigeria and later married in 2020.

Their relationship faced several challenges over the years, including visa delays that prevented Ilesanmi from relocating to the United States for a period.

He eventually relocated to the country in December 2023 to live with Deem. Two months later, he was reported missing but was later found safe.

In June 2024, Deem filed for an annulment of their marriage, accusing Ilesanmi of “fraudulently” marrying her. He denied the allegation and filed a countersuit, saying he felt unsafe in the marriage.

“The reason why I left Angie’s house is that – it’s very very sad – I wasn’t treated like I’m her husband,” he told Entertainment Tonight in 2024. “I was treated like I’m just a nobody. Every day we fight. … I thought when I got here, things would be better for us. But I was wrong, you know? Things got worse when I got here.”
