American singer Ciara has spoken about her experience in Lagos, describing the city as “insane” during a lighthearted chat with British supermodel Naomi Campbell at the CFDA Fashion Awards held in New York.
In a trending clip from the event’s red carpet, Ciara and Naomi reminisced about the singer’s recent trip to Lagos for Lagos Fashion Week 2025, where her presence drew massive attention and applause from fans and designers alike.
“Nigeria is insane,” Ciara exclaimed with a smile.
Naomi quickly asked, “Did you eat the food?”
“Yes, jollof rice,” Ciara replied, sparking laughter from Naomi, who then asked if she had tried Mafé (Senegalese peanut sauce).
Ciara responded, “No, when I go back, I will do that.”
Naomi, known for her connection with Africa’s fashion scene, encouraged Ciara to return to Nigeria for Detty December, saying, “You should go in December, that’s when you got to perform. It’s so good.”
Ciara agreed enthusiastically, promising to return. “Yes, I will go,” she said.
The ‘Level Up’ singer attended Lagos Fashion Week from 29th of October to 2nd of November., where she wore different custom-made outfits. Her visit was widely celebrated across social media for highlighting Nigerian creativity and culture.
Ciara, who is married to American football star Russell Wilson, is known for hits such as ‘Goodies,’ ‘1, 2 Step’, and ‘Level Up.’
