Gunmen

Gunmen who attacked Government Science College, Kagara in the Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State on Wednesday morning came in motorcycles, a resident who witnessed the incident has said.

Twenty-seven students and 15 others including staff workers were abducted in the raid.

The man who lives close to the school told PUNCH that the bandits wore military uniform.

He said the gunmen, before moving to the school, had parked their motorcycles close to Attahiru Secondary School, a distance of one kilometre to the GSS Kagara.

“When they (the victims) were being taken away, I saw that they were tied in pairs and marched to where the motorcycles were parked from where they were taken into the bush,” he said.

An employee of the school who did not want to be named told the newspaper that the gunmen entered the school from the rear where the fence had fallen.

Meanwhile, the state governor Abubakar Bello has visited the school. He had earlier ordered the closure of boarding schools in crisis areas.
