Mentees of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council’s (NEPC) Export Mentorship Programme (EMP) has commended the council’s executive director and chief executive officer, Nonye Ayeni, for her role in strengthening non-oil exports.
The mentees also acknowledged President Bola Tinubu for his economic reforms and the minister of industry, trade and investment, Doris Uzoka-Anite, for supporting policies that have sustained growth in the sector.
According to the NEPC’s First Half-Year Progress Report presented in Abuja on Sunday, Nigeria recorded $3.225 billion in non-oil exports in the first half, representing a 19.59 percent increase from the $2.696 billion posted in the same period last year.
Export volumes also rose to 4.04 million metric tonnes, compared to 3.83 million metric tonnes in H1 2024.
India, Brazil, Vietnam and several African countries accounted for a significant share of the demand.
The report showed that in Q1 2025 alone, Nigeria earned $1.791 billion from non-oil exports, a 24.75 percent increase from Q1 2024, while shipment volumes grew by 24.3 percent to 2.416 million metric tonnes.
On behalf of the mentees, Ransome Adamu, managing director of Za&Ra Global Systems Ltd, said Ayeni’s leadership had motivated exporters.
“Her results inspire exporters to aim higher and contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s non-oil export success story,” he said.
The EMP, introduced by the NEPC in 2022, provides structured guidance for new and emerging exporters through training and business linkages with experienced operators.
