Senator representing Delta North Ned Nwoko has denied a viral allegation in which a young man claimed he was paid N5 million to harm the senator’s estranged wife, Regina Daniels.
In a statement released on Thursday by his communications team, senator Nwoko said the claim is part of what he described as “a renewed pattern of online harassment, cyber stalking and coordinated defamatory videos.”
He said the actions appear aimed at creating “a false narrative of persecution in order to serve ulterior motives.”
Nwoko said he has no interest in “online distractions or fabricated drama,” but noted that when allegations of this nature are made, “they must be addressed in accordance with the law, not through misinformation or emotional manipulation.”
The senator warned against what he called “the growing culture of supporting deviant conduct, shielding wrongdoers and attempting to weaponise public sympathy,” adding that falsehood targeted at one person today could be directed at others tomorrow.
Nwoko has instructed his lawyer to file a petition with the Inspector General of Police, the Director-General of the DSS and the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Cybercrime Unit to investigate the claim.
He said digital footprints linked to those behind the allegation “will be traced and lawful action will be pursued.”
He also urged authorities in the United States and the United Kingdom to disregard any attempt to use “artificial drama around a stable family structure for the purpose of gaining undue advantage,” including asylum claims based on unverified stories.
Nwoko advised Nigerians to disregard the circulating narrative and allow security agencies to handle the matter.
He said he remains focused on his legislative, business and community responsibilities.
