Gospel singer Nathaniel Bassey has recounted how his wife Sarah suffered five miscarriages while he continued to lead praise sessions during Hallelujah Challenge.

The ‘Imela’ crooner shared the emotional testimony in the early hours of Friday during the ongoing Hallelujah Challenge, moving many of his followers to tears.

He said, “My wife will have to forgive me. Do you know that there are times on Hallelujah Challenge when we had a miscarriage, nobody knew. I will still come to praise and dance. Some few years ago, she was on the hospital bed, ectopic pregnancy. I will leave and come online, lead praise and worship and I will go back to the hospital and the nurses will tell me it was powerful tonight. The nurses attending to her. Not one, not two, not three, not four, five.”

Reflecting on their experience, he added, “So when people say, where is God? I say, I understand. God is faithful. One of the words that he gave us, the one is ‘don’t give up on God.’”

He also shared a lighter testimony, saying, “Somebody sent me a testimony yesterday. He went to a Chinese restaurant to eat. I know every now and then they have these cookie things where they put some rice puffs and then you choose. In a Chinese restaurant.”

Fans on social media were moved by the revelation. An X user, Lord TM, wrote, “That moment when Pastor Nathaniel Bassey said his wife had miscarriage five times and he’ll go see her after Hallelujah Challenge. Bruh, I didn’t know when tears started rolling down my eyes like a stream. This life will test you but you just have to trust God.”

Nathaniel Bassey, known for songs like ‘Onise Iyanu’ and ‘You Are God,’ began the Hallelujah Challenge in 2017. The online worship session, held from 11:59 pm to 1:00 am daily, has grown into a global movement attracting thousands of worshippers.

This October’s edition runs from October 7 to 31.
