The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has officially invited singer Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, for questioning following a viral video in which he claimed to have had an intimate encounter with a 15-year-old girl.

In an official letter on Instagram, titled “Invitation for Clarification Regarding Online Content Related to Alleged Sexual Offences Involving Minors” and dated “May 28,” NAPTIP requested Speed Darlington’s presence at their Abuja headquarters on Friday to clarify statements made in live videos circulating on social media.

The statement reads in part, “We write to formally invite you to appear before the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) in respect of certain video materials recently circulated online, including but not limited to a particular Instagram video wherein you allegedly made statements admitting to having engaged in sexual acts with an underage girl.

“Additional archived videos and social media content similarly contain admissions and degrading commentary concerning minors.”

The letter states that he is “hereby invited to appear in person for an interview as regards the alleged actions on Friday 30th May, 2025 by 9 a.m. at the NAPTIP Headquarters: 2028 Dalaba Crescent, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, FCT.”

NAPTIP emphasised the seriousness of the allegations and their commitment to protecting minors from exploitation.

The agency’s spokesperson declared, “We urge Mr. Okoye to comply with the invitation to avoid further action. The protection of children from all forms of abuse remains our priority.”

The invitation follows a viral Instagram Live video where Speed Darlington described in detail an alleged sexual encounter with a minor, including paying hotel staff to replace bloodied bed sheets.

In the video, he reportedly said, “I had sex with a 15-year-old girl in a hotel. I paid the hotel staff to change the sheets because there was blood.”

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) had condemned the act but noted its jurisdictional limitations, stating, “While we acknowledge the disturbing nature of the video, the incident’s location is unclear, and we have escalated the matter to NAPTIP for appropriate action.”

Speed Darlington has since claimed the confession was a publicity stunt, telling fans, “I need controversy to eat. The story was fabricated for entertainment.”
