My prayers influenced Wike’s election victories – David Ibiyeomie

Founder of Salvation Ministries Pastor David Ibiyeomie has said that his prayers influenced the election victories and legal battles of Nyesom Wike, former governor of Rivers State and current minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In a video from a church service that circulated on social media on Sunday, Pastor Ibiyeomie said Minister Wike faced court cases and political pressure during his governorship bid under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“Wike came, lost in the High Court, lost in the Supreme Court. APC was in power, and we were doing five nights of glory. It was not a money problem, he knew the judgment was against him,” he said.

Ibiyeomie said Wike contacted him during the period.

“Don’t fear. I will go to God on your behalf. Even if you are meant to lose, God will change it,” he said he told the politician.

The pastor also said people around Wike doubted he would win his second election.

“Someone said to me, ‘You pray for Wike, we’ll see how you win.’ Ask him any day, the day he sent the note to me, he said, ‘Papa, do I go off?’ He was shaking because everything was against him,” he said.

David Ibiyeomie said he made a covenant with God and gave money in prayer for Wike without informing him.

“I told the Lord, for my sake, not because of him,” he said.

He also claimed that there were plans to change the election result in favour of another candidate identified as Lawal.

“The day they were to change the result and give it to one person called Lawal, something happened. On the spot, the High Commission stepped into INEC. They couldn’t change the result. That’s how he became governor the second time,” he said.

The pastor added that Wike invited him for a thanksgiving service after his victories.

Wike served as governor of Rivers State from 2015 to 2023 and is now the FCT minister.
