Singer Joy Odiete, popularly known as Jodie, has said she has not received any money from her hit song ‘Kuchi Kuchi.’

Jodie shared the details during an appearance on Yanga FM. She said the song gained international attention but she did not earn from it.

She also spoke about the challenges of raising her son, who has special needs.

In her words, “Kuchi Kuchi’ blow worldwide but I no see one naira from that song till today na my ex husband wey abandon me with my baby still dey collect the royalties.

“I no dey like tok di mata because no solution but if e get how u fit help me get my rights back, abeg reach out.”

She said she funded the recording of the song herself and later hired a lawyer to pursue royalty payments, but the efforts did not produce results.

Jodie and her former husband David Nnaji separated when their son was two months old. The marriage ended with claims by her former husband that she was not mentally stable. Jodie said she found it ironic that she was still the one left to raise their child after those claims.

She said caring for a child with special needs has not been easy. Her son was born with conditions linked to cerebral palsy and a rare brain disorder. She said the journey has had both good and difficult moments and added that she remains grateful to God.

Jodie has also used her platform to support other parents of children with special needs, saying there is a need for more understanding and support for families facing similar challenges.

She said she has grown in confidence since releasing ‘Kuchi Kuchi,’ describing herself as stronger and more assured.

Jodie has previously appealed to the public not to attack her former husband online, saying he has moved on with his life.
