My doctorate isn’t honorary, Eucharia Anunobi corrects host on The Honest Bunch Podcast

Eucharia Anunobi

Actress and pastor Eucharia Anunobi has corrected a host on The Honest Bunch Podcast after he mispronounced her name and presented her credentials incorrectly.

The anchor introduced her as “Ukeriya Anunobi Ekwu,” prompting Anunobi to correct him, saying her name is Eucharia Anunobi and she should be addressed as “Apostle Dr. Eucharia Anunobi.”

She told the host: “If you want to introduce me, you introduce me properly. I remain Apostle Dr. Eucharia Anunobi. My doctorate degree is not honorarium. It is academic. I had worked. I had laboured. I am schooled. And when I mean schooled, I mean schooled… I’m a moving acting machine.”

Addressing the “Ekwu” name used by the host, the actress explained that the relationship linked to the name ended long ago and should no longer be attached to her identity.

“I don’t know where you got the Ekwu from. Yes, there was a court wedding, but there was no traditional wedding and no church wedding,” she said.

According to her, the relationship has since been dissolved and the name completely removed from her life.

“That relationship has been dissolved, and that name has been expunged. It’s gone and buried and will never resurrect,” she added.

Her doctorate was earned at Kingdom Life Bible College and Seminary International. Eucharia explained that the title reflects her personal growth, faith, and years of discipline. The moment quickly became widely shared on social media.

Born on May 27, 1965, in Owerri, Imo State, Eucharia rose to prominence in the 1990s with films such as Abuja Connection and Glamour Girls, appearing in over 300 Nollywood productions. In recent years, she has balanced acting with her ministry, often speaking on faith, family and marriage.
