Media personality Toke Makinwa has revealed how motherhood is helping her recover from past trauma and loss.
In a post on X, the 40-year-old said her daughter has been a source of deep healing.
“My daughter brought me healing, she is daily healing parts of me I didn’t even know needed healing, healing from my childhood trauma, from grief I thought I had dealt with a long time ago,” she wrote.
Toke added: “Maybe God knew I needed this.”
The OAP and actress welcomed her first child, Yakira Eliana, in August 2025. She had earlier described her pregnancy as her “biggest project” and “highest calling.”
Toke lost her parents in a tragic gas explosion when she was just eight years old, an incident she has repeatedly said left her with painful memories. She also went through a high-profile divorce from fitness expert Maje Ayida in 2017 after three years of marriage.
The On Becoming author, however, said motherhood is giving her a fresh perspective and helping her mend wounds she thought had closed.
