My current wife has nothing to do with my divorce, forex trader Ahmed XM warns trolls

Safeera Abba and Ahmed

Forex trader Ahmed Yusuf, popularly known as Ahmed XM, has cautioned social media users against attacking his current wife, Safeerah Abba, amid backlash trailing his divorce from his first wife, Safiya Umar.

In a post shared on his Instagram story, Ahmed expressed disappointment over the harassment and misinformation being spread online, warning that legal action may be taken if the attacks persist.

“Over the past few days, I have watched with deep sadness as my name, my wife’s name, and my family have been dragged through the mud online,” he wrote.

“What started as personal news about my separation from my former wife has now turned into a full-blown campaign of hate, cyberbullying, and misinformation directed not just at me, but especially at my wife, Safeerah Abba Mukhtar.”

Ahmed stated clearly that Safeerah was not responsible for the breakdown of his previous marriage.

“To be clear, Safeerah had absolutely nothing to do with the end of my previous marriage. That chapter ended for reasons known only to the people involved,” he said.

“It hurts deeply to see someone I love being falsely accused, insulted, and dehumanised over a situation she did not cause.”

He urged the public to allow him and his family space to heal, adding that the online abuse must stop.

“If this harassment, cyberstalking, cyberbullying, defamation, insults and the like continue, we will be left with no choice than to commence strict and strong legal actions against the perpetrators,” he warned.
“We are all just trying to live and heal quietly. Please let us do that.”

His post came after Safeerah, a medical student and influencer, addressed the issue in a statement on her Instagram story.

“It’s painful to be insulted, judged, and misunderstood by people who don’t know the full story,” she wrote.

“My husband made a choice to end his previous marriage… a decision that was personal and painful in its own way, not out of pride or pressure, but for reasons that only those truly involved would understand.

“My husband didn’t leave his past for no reason. There were things done over time that no man should have to live with that crossed lines.

“He held on longer than most would have. He kept forgiving, hoping things would change. But when a person keeps showing you who they are, you can’t force peace where it doesn’t exist.

“He chose peace. And I chose love that came after pain not because I caused it, but because I respected what came before me.

“They didn’t see what broke him. They just needed someone to blame. And I’ve become the easiest target.

“I’ve never come out to seek pity. I’m not here to play innocent. I’m just tired of the lies.”

Their joint statements followed confirmation from Safiya Umar that her marriage to Ahmed had ended, months after rumours surfaced online.

“Today, I feel it is important to speak from the heart… I am no longer with my ex-husband, Ahmad XM,” Safiya wrote on social media.

She said the decision was made after much reflection and thanked her supporters.

“To all those who have supported me, prayed for me, and shown me love, I am truly grateful,” she added.

Ahmed married Safiya in early 2024 and the union produced a daughter. In early 2025, he married Safeerah, rekindling a previous relationship which reportedly ended in 2023 due to family disapproval.

The second marriage sparked outrage online, with many accusing Ahmed of disrespecting Safiya.

Tensions intensified during Ahmed’s birthday celebration earlier this year. Safiya had posted a heartfelt tribute to him, only for Ahmed to later share a romantic video celebrating with Safeerah and unveiling a new car, which he said Safeerah encouraged him to buy. Safiya subsequently deleted her post and wiped photos of Ahmed from her social media, prompting trolls to flood her page with messages.
