National President of the Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MOPPAN), Umar Maikudi, popularly known as Cashman, has been buried in Zaria.
The filmmaker died on Wednesday night after a protracted illness at the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika Zaria.
A relative of the deceased, Azeez Muazu, confirmed the death, revealing that Maikudi was 62 years old.
He added that the late actor was survived by an aged sister, brothers and other relatives.
Until his death, Maikudi was an actor, producer and film director who worked in both Kannywood and Nollywood. He also served as a lecturer at Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic in Zaria.
His remains were buried at the Dembo burial ground in Zaria on Thursday, in accordance with Islamic rites.
Maikudi was elected as the National President of MOPPAN on January 18 during the association’s event in Nasarawa State.
