The family of late singer MohBad, born Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, has renewed calls for a “transparent, independent, and comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding MohBad’s death.”

The statement, signed by family head Omolayo Aloba and MohBad’s father Joseph Aloba, also revealed new legal and administrative steps concerning the late musician’s estate.

According to the family, they have appointed Oladayo Ogungbe, Esq. of Ogungbe & Ogungbe Attorneys as the sole legal representative for all matters relating to the DNA case and MohBad’s estate.

They also retained Wahab Shittu, SAN to represent them in communications with investigative authorities regarding MohBad’s death.

Three administrators, Ajewole Aloba, Rasaq Famuyiwa and Alonge Aloba, were named to manage his assets, royalties and musical intellectual property, with a fourth slot left open for MohBad’s partner, Wunmi Adebanjo and her son, Liam, only if a valid court‑ordered DNA test confirms that Liam is the singer’s biological child.

The family further directed Wunmi Adebanjo to stop using the surname “Aloba” in any public or private record until the DNA result is confirmed and the family grants approval. They clarified that no statutory or customary marriage was contracted between MohBad and Wunmi Adebanjo because the required Yoruba traditional rites were never completed.

Wunmi Adebanjo’s lawyer, Kabir Akingbolu, rejected the family’s directive, describing it as “illegal and sentimental.”

He insisted that under the law, she cannot be prevented from using the surname “Aloba.” He accused the family of delaying the DNA process, adding, “They were the ones who went to court to demand a DNA test. The court granted the order, but they refused to show up. We are ready for the DNA any time, any day. The child is not a bastard, and my client has nothing to fear; she is a decent woman.”

MohBad died on September 12, 2023, at age 27, under circumstances that sparked nationwide outrage.

He rose to fame with hits like “KPK (Ko Por Ke)” and was previously signed to Marlian Music under Naira Marley before parting ways over alleged mistreatment.
