Mercy Johnson, Ruth Kadiri, Mercy Aigbe, Yvonne Jegede and Stanley Ontop are among Nollywood stars who have shown support for actress Regina Daniels amid her ongoing marital crisis with her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.
Regina on Wednesday shared a video defending her mother, Rita Daniels and addressing the controversy surrounding her marriage.
In the clip, she revealed that her mother had warned her against marrying Nwoko but she went ahead out of love.
“My mum is the best thing that ever happened to me. She held it down for seven years while everyone said no,” she said tearfully.
The actress also accused her husband of ordering the arrest of her brother, Sammy West and younger sister, a development that has sparked outrage online.
Mercy Johnson called for Sammy’s release, describing the situation as “the worst form of injustice.”
“A child was arrested and no one has been allowed to see him for two days. How did we get here, Nigeria?” she wrote on Instagram.
Ruth Kadiri also penned a message of encouragement, saying, “You will forever be celebrated,” which Regina acknowledged with gratitude.
Mercy Aigbe prayed for Regina’s strength and peace, writing, “Sending love, strength and prayers your way @regina.daniels. Keep your head high and never lose your beautiful spirit.”
Yvonne Jegede also lent her voice through an Instagram story that read, “Evil thrives when good people are silent. We will not seat and watch the ongoing injustice because a young girl decided to exit a union. Sir, your current actions are proving the young girl right. This is a fight for the girl child and for our democracy as Nigerians. #freesamuelojeagwu.”
Actor and producer Stanley Ontop condemned the alleged arrest of Regina’s siblings and called for justice.
Regina and Ned Nwoko got married in 2019 and share two sons.
