Actresses Mercy Aigbe and Funke Akindele have joined the cast of The Return of Arinzo, the upcoming sequel to Iyabo Ojo’s film Arinzo.
The cast unveiling began last week Thursday and featured actors from Nigeria, Tanzania and Ghana, highlighting the film’s regional collaboration. The reveal continued on Sunday with the addition of Mercy Aigbe, Funke Akindele, Uzor Arukwe and other cast members.
Other actors announced for the project include Yinka Qudri, Bimbo Akintola, Scarlet Gomez, Juma Jux, Priscilla Ojo, Enioluwa Adeoluwa, Lam Chudubem, Fola Tinubu, Azeezat Shorunmu, Zuhura Othman, Prisca Lyimo and Zainab Bakare.
The Return of Arinzo continues the storyline from the original movie and builds on themes of family ties, conflict and personal choices. The sequel introduces new characters while revisiting unresolved issues from the first film.
The movie is produced by Iyabo Ojo, who has expanded her work into film production in recent years and has increasingly collaborated with talents across Africa.
Details of the release date for The Return of Arinzo are yet to be announced.
