May Yul-Edochie, estranged wife of actor Yul Edochie, has sent a cease-and-desist letter to Yinka Theisen, former lover of her brother-in-law Linc Edochie, over alleged cyberbullying and defamation.
May shared the letter on her Instagram page on Thursday.
Her legal team, Graylaw Partners, is demanding N500 million in damages from Yinka, alongside the withdrawal of the alleged defamatory publications and a public apology.
Part of the letter read: “Your publications are in breach of extant laws, and they have done great harm to our client’s person, reputation, and brand. Our client has been inundated with calls from family, business associates, partners, fans, and friends across the world, who expressed shock at the false allegations you made against her.”
It added: “We demand the immediate withdrawal of the defamatory publications, a retraction of same, and a public apology published on all the platforms where you published the offending material, within 48 hours of receipt of this letter.”
Reacting on Instagram, Yinka mocked the letter. She wrote: “Clowns! Bring it on deluded bunch of clowns…”
May also issued a similar notice to her former lawyer, Emeka Ugwuonye, demanding N1 billion in damages.
Emeka has since reacted, saying he was confused about how the notice was handled. “Two weeks ago, I received a letter from a lawyer who introduced her firm as representing Queen May. I noticed the letter was sent to an address I left four years ago, so I promptly informed her of the mistake,” he explained.
He added: “Later yesterday afternoon, I was informed by several people that May had indeed posted the lawsuit on her Instagram account. I was shocked to discover she had posted the attempted letter of two weeks ago—not the corrected version. It suggests she’s confused and stressed, which I find unfortunate. I genuinely wish I could do something to help her.”
The US-trained lawyer continued: “By the way, if May does decide to sue me, it will be a victory for Yul and Judy, as she will need to shift her attention from them to focus on me. Even Yinka will likely celebrate this.”
He then gave a firm deadline, saying: “Queen May just showed her destructive nature. She set her vile mob on me, but she made a mistake. I give her one week to serve me with the lawsuit.”
The dispute adds to the controversies trailing the Edochie family since Yul introduced actress Judy Austin as his second wife in 2022.
