Entrepreneur May Edochie has opened up about how her life took a downward turn financially and emotionally in the wake of her marital crisis with actor Yul Edochie.

Speaking at the launch of her beauty products in London, May recounted how her thriving businesses collapsed, leaving her with multiple debts to repay.

“It was barely a few months when all the unprecedented occurrences came my way, I sat and watched everything go down the drain and it came at a time I had to repay three banks,” she said.

“The banks had been helping me really good, but it was unfortunate that everything happened at the same time and I lost everything. While so much was going on social media, I was battling other things a lot of people don’t know about.

“In the midst of these, I still had to pay three banks loan, interests were piling. Like I said I had lost all my businesses, goods expired in my stores, everything went down. But because I believe in myself and I know what I am made of, I said no I am not going to be at the mercy of anyone.”

May’s emotional revelation comes more than two years after her husband Yul Edochie went public with his second marriage to actress Judy Austin in April 2022, a decision that triggered public backlash and put a strain on his relationship with May.

Shortly after the announcement, May distanced herself from the actor, stating that her faith and family values do not align with polygamy. Despite a public apology from Yul in December 2022, she remained firm in her stance and focused on her personal growth and career.

Since separating from Yul, May has drawn support from many fans.
