Lyrical dexterity insane, Ashny teases all-women features in new album set for December 14 showcase

Singer and performer Ashny has described her soon-to-be released album Femalepreneur as a body of work rooted in depth, insight and strong messaging for women.

In an interview with QEDNG, the singer said the project goes beyond being just an album, noting that its themes cut across love, unity and understanding the girl child.

“Femalepreneur is the business of woman. It’s like a book that touches on subjects, matters, and poignant issues. It teaches love, unity, understanding the girl child. Every track on that album is like a book that holds very deep insights.”

She added that the lyricism and delivery on the project mark her most powerful work yet.

“The lyrical dexterity is insane and the delivery is mad. I will always deliver when it comes to that. It has a balance of melody, message, poetry, and emancipation-based theme. It’s a full body of work.”

According to her, she sometimes gets surprised when she revisits the tracks.

“Sometimes when I listen to the songs on the album, I’m like, ‘Ashny I did this work, is this me? Na me sing this song?’. It’s a mature body of work that speaks on experience and applicable wisdom.”

Ashny stressed that Femalepreneur is a women-only project.

“The collaboration on the album is insane. Like I said it’s a business of women. All the collaborations on the album are all women.
All women. Women business things.”

She revealed a lineup featuring female legends and emerging talents.

“I have Legends on the album. I have Queen Salawa Abeni on the album. I have Yinka Davies on the album. I have the Ibru sisters, Elvina and Gloria Ibru. Cordelia is on the album.”

Continuing, she added:
“Also, Wunmi Obe is on the album too. I have amazing talents too. I have Yellow Girl, Boomerang, Butterfly, my sister Mo. The album is packed. I can’t wait for you guys to see it.”

Ashny confirmed that she will unveil Femalepreneur on December 14 alongside a major brand showcase.

The singer who is also an actress and fashion designer said the event will showcase multiple sides of her creativity.

“I’m not only unboxing the music side of Ashny, but also the fashion and everything else. We reveal everything on that day.”

She urged fans to expect originality and artistic expression.

“Guys, be expecting extraordinary originality, something different, something unique. If you understand music, and love music so much. You understand the message and what music is all about, you will fall in love with this album.”

The musical and brand showcase will hold at the Mike Adenuga Centre, Ikoyi, Lagos, where the album will be officially unveiled.

Ashny began her music career in 2013 and has since released several singles, EPs and albums known for blending pop, Afropop and Afrosoul. Earlier this year, she released a double EP following her sophomore album Femme Fatale, further cementing her place among Nigeria’s rising female pop voices.
