Lizzy Anjorin throws shade as court dismisses Iyabo Ojo’s N1bn lawsuit

Actress Lizzy Anjorin on Thursday celebrated her victory in the legal battle between her and fellow actress Iyabo Ojo, declaring that the N1 billion defamation lawsuit filed against her has been dismissed.

Lizzy made the announcement in a video posted on her Instagram page, where she also took a swipe at social media bloggers and trolls she accused of blackmail and cyberbullying.

She wrote:
“Breaking news!!! Iyabo Ojo 1 billion naire law suit against Lizzyanjorin is dismissed. Court ordered Iyabo Ojo to pay Lizzyanjorin certain amount.”

While she did not specify the amount Iyabo was allegedly asked to pay, Lizzy went on to thank unnamed persons she accused of stalking her and her daughter in order to share court-related documents with gossip blogs like Gistlover and Esabod.

“Thanks to the letter poster that always waits for hours by roadside two buildings away from my house waiting for the baby to come back from school so that they can video her face along the court letter and send it to amebo Gistlover and Esabod and all other blackmailers to post even before court could receive it,” she wrote.

In the same post, the Yoruba movie star accused those behind the alleged stalking of engaging in similar behaviour toward the late singer Mohbad.

“Gistlover how market??? Is this how u stalked late Mohbad till his last moment??? Allegedly ni o. Am just asking because I never see where Naira (Marley) has done this to anybody,” she added.

The feud between Lizzy Anjorin and Iyabo Ojo began in late 2023 when Lizzy accused Iyabo of being a blackmailer. Iyabo subsequently filed a lawsuit against Lizzy, demanding N1 billion in damages for defamation and requesting a retraction of the statements made against her.

Iyabo also accused Lizzy of cyberbullying and asked the Lagos State High Court to restrain her from further defamatory publications. The court earlier granted an interim order in Iyabo’s favour restraining Lizzy from making further posts pending the hearing of the suit.

As of the time of this report, Iyabo Ojo has not made any public comment regarding Lizzy’s latest claims.

The case has generated wide attention on social media due to the personalities involved and their long-standing rivalry in the Yoruba film industry.
