Actress and media personality Omotunde Adebowale‑David, popularly known as Lolo 1, has revealed she would rather be a second wife than a man’s side chick.
The Jenifa’s Diary star made the statement during an interview with Bimbo Akintola where she spoke about relationship values and morality.
“I would rather a man be polygamous than for him to be married and have a side chick. That’s the one I would not contend with,” she said.
“I would rather have polygamy than have you have a side chick. Let us all come to the marriage and suffer together,” added the former Wazobia FM OAP.
Lolo 1, a lawyer and mother of four, explained that being a recognised wife carries more dignity than hiding in a man’s shadow.
The Lagos-born actress gained fame as Adaku in Jenifa’s Diary and has built a successful career as an actress, radio presenter and content creator.
Her statement comes shortly after singer Tiwa Savage made a similar remark. In a candid interview on the American podcast Lip Service, Tiwa said she wouldn’t mind being a second wife, citing limited options among mature, single men. She said, “If I meet somebody who can really marry me, they are either in their 50s or already married. So, I don’t know. Maybe I can be a second wife. I think so. I could be a second wife.”
She also explained that she would approach such a relationship with respect and maturity.
